In Berlin, almost 300 homicides have not been solved in the past 50 years. Between 1968 and 2021, the police registered a total of 286 unsolved homicides or suspected homicides, the Senate replied to an AfD request.

Among these so-called “cold cases” are missing persons cases in which the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) suspects that a violent crime is involved.

Again and again such old cases would be cleared up, it said. In the past five years, suspects have been identified for five homicides, each of which was more than five years ago.
