Berlin’s Senator for the Interior, Iris Spranger, described the arson attack on a police officer’s car in front of her private home as an “attack on our democracy”. It was a perfidious act and an “attack on all of us,” said the SPD politician on Twitter on Friday. “This terror is unacceptable.”

Her thoughts are with the officer, her family and neighborhood, Spranger said. “I stand firmly by their side and will stand against this extremism with full force.”

The car of the policewoman from the Berlin State Criminal Police Office (LKA) went up in flames in front of her house in Schönefeld (Dahme-Spreewald district) on Tuesday night. Nobody got hurt. The attack was allegedly carried out by left-wing extremists.
