Shark Tank will return to ABC on October 8 for its 13th season. The long-running series will make its historic debut. Emma Grede, co-founder of SKIMS and Good American, will be joining returning Sharks Mark Cuban and Barbara Corcoran as guest hosts. Grede will be the first Black female entrepreneur guest host.
This busy entrepreneur is also a partner in Kim Kardashian’s formwear line SKIMS. She co-founded Good American, an all-inclusive denim brand in 2016, with her sister Khloe Kardashian. Recently, the company was in the news for trying to release the racy “Find the One” campaign video. It features Khloe wearing a pair of the brand’s latest jeans while she is topless.

The Brit, 38, spoke previously to Elle UK about creating Good American with diversity in Mind.

“I have been involved in celebrity partnerships for a while, and I realized that a lot was required of me to create very diverse campaigns. Grede said that she often cast women in campaigns for brands that didn’t make clothing that fit.
Glamour reports that the idea for Good American was created by Grede at age 24, when she founded her own marketing agency, ITB Worldwide. The company now offers a variety of inclusive styles and has a remarkable number of sales. With Grede as the CEO, the brand was able to make $1 million its first year.

East Londoner, who is also a member of the Women for Women International Board and Ambassador, helps empower women in conflict-affected nations. She is currently the Co-Chair for the Revenue & Advancement Committee.

Grede will assist the Sharks in taking pitches from four entrepreneurs looking for investment to support their businesses on Friday’s season premiere.

Pop Culture reports that Patrick Robinson, a budding entrepreneur, will present Paskho clothing. Philomina Kane will be taking on the Sharks panel to get investment for her Kin haircare brand, which focuses on Black haircare. She also designs protective headgear such as hoodies and beanies. Kristen Schumacher and William Schumacher will present their brand Uprising as a low-carb superfood business. The outlet notes that Lerin Lockwood (the founder of the jewelry company Lion Latch) will be the last entrepreneur to appear in the premiere.
