A woman in her thirties was found Friday in a vehicle that sank in the South River in Montmagny, in Chaudière-Appalaches. He was pronounced dead a little later at the hospital.

The tragedy occurred around 12:30 p.m. Friday when a vehicle found itself in the waters of the Rivière du Sud, from Chemin des Cascades, in Montmagny, explains Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

Police and paramedics were dispatched to the scene. The towing of the vehicle ended around 3:15 p.m. In the passenger compartment of the car, the emergency services found and extricated the body of a 30-year-old woman.

She was taken to hospital where she was declared dead at the end of the day.

After verifications, the Sûreté du Québec believes that there were no other passengers in the vehicle when it ended up underwater, said Ms. Dorsainville.

A police officer specializing in collision investigation was dispatched to the scene to analyze the scene. No criminal thesis is considered, but the reasons that led the driver under the waves were still unknown at the end of the day on Friday.
