Let’s get out into the country: This Saturday the 27th “Brandenburg Country Outing” starts in Brandenburg. Until Sunday, during the two-day event, farms and agricultural businesses, market gardens, fisheries, forestry companies and cultural institutions can be visited in all regions of the federal state. Farm shops and country inns have also prepared for the tourist campaign days (the entire program is available at brandenburger-landpartie.de).

Meanwhile, according to the organizers, Brandenburg can celebrate another public holiday on the first day of the country outing. June 11, 1157 is considered Brandenburg’s birthday – and therefore the 865th birthday of the Mark Brandenburg can also be celebrated on the Brandenburg country outing.

And there are a number of highlights on this festive day. Mills in Brandenburg are also taking part in the visitor campaign this weekend: the Vehlefanz windmill in the district of Oberhavel is a historical monument and is almost completely preserved. Today it serves as a museum and extracurricular learning location. Numerous events take place around the mill at the weekend. There are guided tours of the mill and the history of the mill, as well as presentations of rural handicrafts.

Many offers have been put together for children, and a learning route should be fun and also provide information. In addition, a “beekeeping training stand” will be set up. On the occasion of the country outing, Kerstin Rosen also provides information on rural handicrafts and customs in the community of Oberkrämer. The contact number is 03304/2061227 (online: oberkraemer.de). The opening times are on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Lindenallee 71 in 16727 Oberkrämer-Vehlefanz.

Drivers can reach the mill via the L17 country road at the end of the town, in the direction of Kremmen. The nearest train station is Oberkrämer district of Vehlefanz, about 1.5 kilometers away. Many other historic mills, for example in the Uckermark, are also worth a visit regardless of the “country outing”.
