Berlin police are investigating three cases of possible war crimes in Ukraine. If the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) establishes the initial suspicion of a criminal offense and initiates investigations, the Attorney General in Karlsruhe will be informed, the Senate replied to a CDU request. The Attorney General is responsible for everything else.

The Berlin police only record war crimes by the Russian army in Ukraine if they are specifically reported in Berlin, it said. Ukrainian refugees are not specifically questioned about this.

However, notices and information should be used to draw attention to the possibility of advertising. The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) therefore also created a questionnaire for the state police.
