(Montreal) A pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision with a motorist in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, in Montreal, Monday afternoon.

The 66-year-old man was crossing Papineau Avenue from east to west, south of Fleury East Street, according to information collected by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

He was transported to a hospital center by Urgences-Santé. He would have suffered major upper body injuries and his condition would be considered critical, said SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin.

The 19-year-old motorist was traveling northbound on Papineau Avenue when he collided with the pedestrian around 3:30 p.m.

Collision investigators were dispatched to the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding this event.
