Last week, a security guard was shot and killed in an attempt to rob a news crew in Oakland. Kevin Nishita, a retired police officer, was providing security to a local news team Nov. 24, when he was wounded in an attempted robbery in the 300 block 14th Street. Nishita was in critical condition at the local hospital until Saturday when he succumbed to his injuries.
